CLICK: Stock and Resources Policy Clarification

It affects you, too, as photomanipulators.
Work that is made with illegitimate stock can be moved/removed.
This includes premade backgrounds that are not made with legitimate sources!

(For example, people who take stock from stock sites like sxc.hu and redistribute it as premade backgrounds are going against dA policy, and YOU could have your images moved or removed if you use those premades. Be careful with premades and make sure you know where the person providing the premade got the stock for it.)

We'll talk about it.

....more soon.

I see great information coming from you and the Photomanipulations Community and I have made a "Photomanipulation Community" collection area for #DevNews gathering of articles and posting.

Please feel free to note me or the group if you have anything at all you would like us to help you promote :)

I have added this article to #DevNews posting later today ~ August 4, 2012.

 but you know that this will effect over have of all stockers. I can think of a few that this will wipe out their entire gallery of over 500 premades. I wonder if this effect people that are selling their art, again there are thousands. I think enforcing this would be a huge task and remove many great artists from the community. As a stocker and a manipulator, I do my best to be careful about this. I still can't see putting this much effort into reinforcement. Though I would love to see it!

Jade I went through some images of SXC and this is what they write:
You may use the Image

In digital format on websites, multimedia presentations, broadcast film and video, cell phones.
In printed promotional materials, magazines, newspapers, books, brochures, flyers, CD/DVD covers, etc.
Along with your corporate identity on business cards, letterhead, etc.
To decorate your home, your office or any public place.

You may not use the Image

For pornographic, unlawful or other immoral purposes, for spreading hate or discrimination, or to defame or victimise other people, sociteties, cultures.
To endorse products and services if it depicts a person.
In a way that can give a bad name to SXC or the person(s) depicted on the Image.
As part of a trademark, service mark or logo.
SELLING AND REDISTRIBUTION OF THE IMAGE (INDIVIDUALLY OR ALONG WITH OTHER IMAGES) IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN! DO NOT SHARE THE IMAGE WITH OTHERS!

Always ask permission from the photographer if you want to use the Image

In website templates that You intend to sell or distribute.
For creating printed reproductions that You intend to sell.
On "print on demand" items such as t-shirts, postcards, mouse pads, mugs (e.g. on sites like Cafepress), or on any similar mass produced item that would contain the Image in a dominant way.

I don't use them as prints.. nor I sell the art I make.. so.. maybe doing a premade or a manipulation is still good as long as I credit it...
It's not fair if you download their pictures and you post them here claiming that they are your stock...
I found some pictures where the stock provider asks you inform him/her if you use their stocks.. nothing more!
What do you think?

"No redistribution" means you can't mix sxc.hu stock into a premade and then give that away as stock. I would just be leery of any premades that do not credit the source of the original stock. And when they do credit it, I check to make sure that the original stock provider gave permission for their work to be distributed as a premade.

Ok now I got what they mean... But this is also for photmanipultions or only for premades? I can understand the premades thing because they are 'stocks' eventually! But I hope they are good for manipulations. I don't sell my art so... ANyway I wrote to sxc staff and I hope I will get an answer so I will show it to all of you :)
When people here don't want us to use their pictures I never use them... everyone has their own specific rules and we have to follow them. They are kind to offer precious images so we have to respect them.

Oh, you can use them in manipulations, sure. But if you make them into a premade and give them to someone else, that's considered redistribution, from the way I understand it.

Dang... I don't understand why they let people download images then... SXC should act like other sites and make poepole pay for images.. don't you think? The say Welcome to Stock.XCHNG, the leading FREE stock... I dont understand now!!!!!!
On dA is different.. Every deviant can put their own rule and you can read about it... If it is in photos it is not stock... sxc isnt clear then!
