Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Music Is My Inspiration ContestWell guys I've decided to start my own contest, because I had awesome feedback on the idea ^_^
It'll be my first contest that I've held...EVER! So it's very exciting :3

I need help!

Hey, photomanippers! We have had an incredible summer together, and I've been able to allocate hours and hours each day to doing everything I can do for the community. Now, classes have begun, and I will be starting my dissertation this Fall. I'm really excited, but my dA time will be more cramped.

Don't get me wrong-- I am still fully committed to this position and to all of you. It's just that it needs to be more than a one-woman show, because that robs YOU of a chance to get involved, and it keeps ME working on this too much. I love it, but I have other priorities also. So, we're going to make this less about "me" and more about "we"!!

What are some ways in which you can help me?

Send me stuff to feature . . . or, better yet, put together a feature yourself and send me a link!

It doesn't have to be a DD feature; it can be from all levels of art, from beginners to more experienced manipulators. Don't feel like we can only feature the very best of the best. Everyone deserves a chance in the spotlight. In either case, I need some help putting together weekly features of art in our gallery. So, we are looking for pieces that are properly credited and do a good job of representing what we are about.

Get involved with Photomanipulation Month!

The theme is going to be 'Illumination'! We need people to help with all sorts of different things, so if you're interested, please send a note to ~The-Sacred-Space. =nikkidoodlesx3 is helping me coordinate this effort, and we have a pretty good crew going, but we need a lot more hands on board.
