I had proposed a contest idea a while back, where people would tell their stories of illness and recovery through art. People seemed to like this idea a LOT, but they felt it shouldn't be a contest per se but rather a challenge. (I think this means that people should tell their story because they want to tell their story, and not because they are getting some prize from it.)
So, I was thinking maybe we can encourage people to participate in monthly challenges again, with the features at the end of the month. I will up the ante and say that I'll give a small prize (like a 3-month subscription or maybe even 1,000 points) to the most creative and meaningful entry, as decided by you all.
These challenges will start in December and will be thematic (they will focus on a specific topic, such as recovery or hope). All art media will be accepted.
Great idea
I'm so
I appreciate your great effort for the community.
If i am on a situation like that, what would i want?... let's think:
First.- My life is/was real hard, so i have an understanding and appreciation of it on a higher level than the most of the people who haven't really suffered as i've done.
Second.- My expectations about Society are bigger than normal, because i can feel deeper the good and bad vibes from people, and it feeds me on a positive or negative way.
Third.- I'm an Artist, and i have a real deep scale of artistic values and needs from it, because it helped me throughout my pain.
So, i could say: "i do understand and appreciate in a deep way the positive vibes from Society toward my Art", then, what thing would i consider as a prize?, could it be worldwide recognition in a feature published for DA as a tribute in life?... wich intention could be to tell my story in order to encourage everybody to realize their dreams?, because, if i can, why wouldn't they?... i would love something like that!.
It can be with the 5 or 10 most voted, and you can give them (as a plus) the items like little memberships or points as you mentioned. We are over 24 million registered artists and art appreciators, with a response from the 1% (or even the 0.1%) of us as watchers toward that people, wouldn't it be great for them?
Well, that's my humble opinion.
