Can the future ever truly be known in advance? (Aside from the obvious... e.g. if I don't write this dissertation I will not graduate.)

Yes, it is possible to tell the future using divination methods like Tarot or astrology. Also, some people are born with special gifts like clairvoyance to help them see the future.
No, the future is not tellable because all relies on free will. If I change my mind about something, an event that seemed inevitable 5 minutes ago is suddently not likely.
The future is tellable to some extent based on the fact that the odds of knowing an event with certainty grow smaller as you move away from the present day/time.

I believe so. I have premonition with animals. Once was Lucy, when she got stolen. I just had a feeling that something was wrong.
Once was Oliver, when he got killed this April. Me and my parents were coming home from Biloxi, and for some reason I thought "I hope they have squirrels in Heaven." and I saw my Ollie with wings on his back, in Heaven. Immediately after that, I started to cry and then wondered "Why am I crying?" Then I stopped. It was so quick, the flash of the image in my mind. Then when we got home, I can usually see under the carport fine at night, but that night all I saw was black. It was honestly like something was blocking my view... I don't know if you believe in spirits or not, but I have seen my Oliver in this house a month after he passed. I heard his bark, me and mom both did. Believe what you want, I'm just telling what I know.
